Designing Digital Albums – Club talk Tues 31st Jan

(posted by PeterG) As John mentioned at our last meeting, all going well I’ll be giving a talk on designing digital albums (a.k.a. coffee table books or just simply digital books) at our next meeting on Tues 31st January. These are sometimes used for wedding albums but also work very well for collections of landscape photos, family albums etc. I’m going to look at the family album side of it. I’ve created a slideshow below showing one I did about 3 or 4 years ago. I designed it using the free Photojunction PJRemix software which allows you to design to any custom size. I chose one of the sizes provided by our very own Niall in the Fuji shop in town and I was delighted with the quality of the resulting book. Niall’s process uses real photos printed on professional photo paper stuck to a solid card backing whereas many, if not most, of the online providers print the photos on laser paper which just doesn’t get the same quality of result. I think I may have done this one as a Valentine’s day gift for my wife … romantic type that I am!  So for all you hearthrobs out there, this could be a timely talk from that point of view. While I’m on it, you could also surprise your beloved with one of Gerald’s excellent quality canvas prints.
